Our Story
Acorn Environmental Consulting is proudly based in Lindsay, Ontario and is built on a simple belief: environmental work should strengthen both the land and the communities that depend on it.
With deep roots in Peterborough and the Kawarthas, we bring a practical understanding of the local landscape, regulatory environment, and community priorities. We work closely with clients to support responsible land use, thoughtful development, and projects that move forward in a balanced and sustainable way.
Our approach is grounded in care – for the environment, for the people connected to it, and for the long-term health of the places we live and work. We believe effective environmental consulting combines sound science, clear communication, and solutions that are both realistic and responsible.

Meet the Founder
Acorn Environmental Consulting was founded by Steve Elford, an environmental consultant with more than 14 years of experience delivering high-quality services across Ontario and Canada.
Throughout his career, Steve has worked on a wide range of projects including environmental site assessments, remediation programs, groundwater monitoring, and regulatory compliance. His work has taken him across Canada, helping clients navigate environmental challenges while supporting responsible land use and sustainable development.
Acorn was created to bring a thoughtful, practical approach to environmental consulting — one that prioritizes clear communication, sound science, and long-term stewardship of the land and communities we share.
